A rather larger and more imposing wagon with somewhat more detail even than the Seacow wagons, JustTrains latest "Auto Ballaster" wagon release looks every bit as
pleasing to the eye as their other impressive range of RailWorks and Rail Simulator add-ons.
There are two variants of the wagon; the ballast hopper and the generator wagon and are supplied in six liveries including the RailTrack and the more striking
bright yellow "Network Rail" livery.
As with the Seacow i've tried to take some closer detail screenshots to really try and show just how good the 3D detailing is on these wagons. I find myself
nearly cut-pasting from other reviews recently because once again I must say that the 3D detailing and the quality of the texturing seem to me to be quite
excellent.
In addition to the wagons you also get a selection of scenarios:
- Free Roam on Oxford to Paddington
- Standard Scenario on Oxford to Paddington
- Standard Scenario on Newcastle to York
- Free Roam on Hagen Siegen
- Standard Scenario on Cajon Pass (Barstow to San Bernadino)
As with the Seacow pack, the scenarios seem to all follow the same basic and very straight forward formula; you start near some wagons and have to reverse to pick up one or more cuts of wagons and join them together, once you have built up the train you can then proceed on to the main line and drive for a while before you reach the conclusion and that's the end. It's something to get you going but you will definitely want to start learning how to create your own scenarios and/or enhance the free roam scenarios with your other installed rolling stock, for example the
Class 60 from JustTrains or the Class 66 from RailSimulator.com are both excellent locomotives to haul these wagons. Of course the scenarios only make use of default rolling stock items in order to keep things simple.
Overall these are some very nice and highly detailed wagons that will make a nice addition to your modern image rolling stock collection.
